Spain, 21st-24th April

As I write this I'm still buzzing from a fantastic trip to Southern Spain the other week with Wes Attridge, David Campbell, Robin Stride and Ed Stubbs. Ever since I first took up birding I've had a particular interest in visible migration and, as such, a foreign trip to watch some raptor migration has always been high on my wishlist. So, when Ed first mooted the idea of a long weekend in Andalucia towards the end of last year I didn't need too much persuading!

Unsurprisingly it turned out to be an incredible four days, with a little under 160 species seen cumulatively by the whole group. Everyone got at least one lifer and, as it was unchartered territory for me, I managed to clock up a whopping 26 new species.

For a more comprehensive round-up of what we saw, when and where, do check out Ed's excellent trip report, but here's just a selection of some of my own photos from the trip.
